This is because EAB carves tunnels just under the bark and this portion of the tree is discarded by the saw mill. If Ash are the most valuable trees in your woods and you’re managing for financial gain you may want to consider harvesting your Ash now. But if you have other more valuable trees like Maple and Black Cherry in your woods or financial gain isn’t high on your list of goals you may want to wait. By cutting your Ash now you run the risk of damaging your high value trees. You may get paid for the Ash but logging damage can lower the value of your Maple and Cherry even more over the long haul.
