This was the first morning that we heard the American woodcock down in the swamp. In the morning quiet you could hear their pleasant little "pweet" call as well as the sounds they produce in the courtship flight. I think the flight sounds are well-described as a cascade of squeaks and chirps. If you're not familiar with these sounds, listen to them here:
