First time using my Woodlotdotcom. Have property in Delaware County that we only access Spring through Fall. We love to forage and grow things but we just cannot figure out how to use our property in the best way possible. its mostly wooded areas but our home appears to be on lots and lots of bluestone. so gardening is out. we cannot complain it provides us with tons of mushrooms but we want to do more. We signed up so that maybe we can get some help. We are also members of the catskill forest assoc. nice to meet you all! P.S. our home is a geodesic dome

Hi Peters Russ,
Welcome to my MyWoodlot! It sounds like you may be interested in MyWoodlot content related to agroforestry. Have you tried browsing through the activities located under Farm in My Woods? You can get there by clicking on this link: https://mywoodlot.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=307&Itemid=736 hyper-goal. Or from MyWoodlot.com, click on the Income goal and then click on Farm in My Woods.
The Agroforestry Resource Center located in Acra, NY -- home of Cornell Cooperative Extension for Columbia and Greene Counties and also Siuslaw Model Forest -- is another great way to learn more about agroforestry options for your woodlot. Here is a link to their website: http://ccecolumbiagreene.org/natural-resources/agroforestry-resource-center. If you want to talk mushrooms, Tracey Testo of CCE Columbia Greene is your contact (tet35@cornell.edu). If you haven't done so already, you should check out the shiitake log exhibit at Siuslaw Model Forest sometime.
I hope this is helpful. Let me know how you get along.
Cheers,
Kris Brown

Hi Russ and welcome !
My colleague Kris had some excellent advice for you but I also wanted to let you know about our Management Assistance Program (MAP). MyWoodlot was built and maintained through the Watershed Agricultural Councils Forestry Program and we have cost-share funding available to help landowners like yourself (in the NYC watershed) implement some management practices in your woodlot. Here is a link to the MAP Program web page and Application Form which lists all the practices we currently fund. One of the options is a site visit from a forester on our team. They are available for a walk and talk with you on your property to discuss options and ideas for you to consider. Hope to hear from you in the future and feel free to post a picture of your home ! I'm intrigued ! Heather
