The Living Forest
The series is made possible through a grant from New York State Assembly member Mary J. Shimsky.
The first speaker, Douglas Tallamy, is a renowned American entomologist, conservationist, and University of Delaware professor known for championing native plants to combat biodiversity loss, advocating for homeowners to create habitat through landscaping, and co-founding the Homegrown National Park initiative; his influential books, like Bringing Nature Home and Nature's Best Hope, connect everyday gardening to ecological restoration, making him a leading voice in sustainable landscaping.
This event is hosted by the O'Hara Nature Center. The O'Hara Nature Center mission is to promote the community's enjoyment and exploration of the woods; to educate and involve the community in understanding our local environment; and to demonstrate sustainable concepts that will inspire the community to live in balance with nature.
