Screening: The Extraordinary Caterpillar

After the film, we’ll roll up our sleeves and start building habitat at home.
Participants will plant seeds to begin their own butterfly and caterpillar garden — leaving with the first steps toward supporting pollinators right outside their door.

Bring a plastic container at least 3 inches tall that is translucent or transparent. Ideal options include gallon or half-gallon milk or juice jugs, clear salad green containers, or takeout containers with clear lids. We’ll provide the seeds and guidance — you’ll walk away with a planted container ready to grow.

Perfect for families, budding naturalists, and anyone curious about the incredible life cycle of butterflies.

This event is hosted by Teatown Lake Reservation. Teatown is a nonprofit nature preserve and environmental education center in the Lower Hudson Valley, with 15 miles of hiking trails, a two-acre island refuge for over 230 species of native wildflowers, year-round programming, wildlife exhibits, and natural science day camps during the summer and school breaks.
