Thank you all for coming. You may be wondering why you’ve been called here today. Our preliminary scouting report has identified a significant spread of invasive vines deep within Frederick P. Rose Preserve. These fast-growing plants are putting pressure on the small number of hemlock trees, crowding out native wetland species, and throwing the ecosystem out of balance. Fortunately, this is a challenge we can take on together!

This is a volunteer mission of high reward. By joining us, you’ll be protecting native habitats, learning hands-on stewardship skills, and connecting with other passionate community members. If you’re ready to get outside and make a difference, we’d love to have you on the team.

Getting There + Parking: Parking is available at the entrance to the preserve here. Coordinates to the parking lot are 41.292819, -73.610785. Carpooling is encouraged.

Accessibility: Approximately one mile of hiking along a well-established trail is required. The running slope of the trail does not exceed 10%. No prior volunteer experience needed. Tools and light snacks will be provided.

Safety: Please wear long pants, long sleeves, and close-toed shoes to the event, and consider dressing in layers and bringing a water bottle. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
