Forest Walk: An Introduction to Forest Stewardship & Conservation

Making long-term management decisions for a family woodlot can feel overwhelming. Join Master Forest Owner (MFO) Jimmy Bulich for an educational tour of his private 85-acre forested property along High Falls Road in Catskill. Over the past 25 years, Jimmy has actively stewarded this land with the deliberate goal of creating an uneven-aged forest featuring rich plant and wildlife biodiversity.

As you walk the trails, Jimmy will discuss his practical experiences working within the NYS 480-a forest tax incentive program, how he collaborated with professional foresters to plan harvests, and why he placed conservation easements with the Greene Land Trust to protect this forest footprint in perpetuity. He will also address the ongoing challenges of growing the next generation of native trees in the face of intense deer browse. This walk is perfect for landowners seeking real, honest insights into managing forest health, balancing property economics, and building a legacy of conservation.
