Community Forests

Community Forests

This program series addresses important issues, from affordable farmland to building a community forest, and explores how they connect to conservation. One-hour Zoom sessions will include brief presentations, time for questions and answers, and the opportunity to connect with others.

This month, we will explore how communities and conservation organizations can work together to care for land.

Betsy Albert and Tim Kennelty, chair and member of the Taghkanic Community Forest Committee, will be joined by Patrick Knapp, Director of Public Lands at CLC, to discuss the founding of the Taghkanic Community Forest. Knapp will highlight the property’s acquisition and the decision to steward the land in a community forest model. Albert and Kennelty will then share about the process for building the Taghkanic Community Forest committee, hopes for the site, and tease its opening on June 6, 2026.
