Catskills Invasive Species Early Career Development Field Day

Catskills Invasive Species Early Career Development Field Day

The long-term protection of our regional watersheds depends heavily on cultivating the next generation of forestry workers, land managers, and conservation scientists. This field and networking event, hosted by the Catskill Center and the Catskill Regional Invasive Species Partnership (CRISP), brings together conservation interns, students, early-career professionals, and curious landowners for a collaborative look at forest health monitoring.

The afternoon focuses directly on the frontlines of regional forest defense. CRISP staff will demonstrate real-world field survey protocols, map invasive pest distributions, and share information on emerging ecological threats affecting Catskill woodlots. Participants will engage in peer-to-peer breakout discussions, share mapping strategies, and connect with working natural resource experts. Whether you are an aspiring forester looking to expand your technical skills or a local landowner eager to see how modern environmental agencies track invasive pressure, this collaborative session offers essential tools for regional environmental stewardship. Pre-registration is requested to secure lunch and workshop materials.
