Today I was asked by a landowner in Westchester about when to clean out their bird boxes. After taking a look at the box, I noticed that the hole was 1.5 inches across, meaning it was likely a bluebird box. The short answer = clean them out by late February. Or maybe even sooner with this being such a warm year. To learn more, view the "Install a Bluebird Box" activity. Scroll down to the last "How To" link to learn about bluebird box maintenance. Alas! There is a new activity (as of 2/25/2016) called "Clean My Bird Boxes". Great timing!
