A landowner in Westchester did a good job controlling the highly invasive Tree of Heaven. A small amount of herbicide was applied to the bark. The adjacent white ash and black cherry will gladly take advantage of the extra growing room.
That was a pretty big Tree of Heaven! The landowner might want to watch for suckers (new trees) that will sprout up from the dead tree's roots. It's one of the ways Tree of Heaven is especially tough to get rid of. You think you have it nailed, and then a few years later you have even more of it than you had before.
