What plant is this? With the variety of poisonous plants that look like Queen Anne's lace, I'm not sure what this is.

I checked with a colleague who knows more about plants than I do and here is her response:
"This one is definitely Daucus carota, or Queen Anne's lace. You can tell by a few features- the combination of which leads to positive ID. They include the bristles on the stem, a solid green stem with no purple spots or coloring and the way the leaves are divided and more finely lobed when compared so something like parsnip or hemlock.
Another sure way to ID is to crush and smell the leaves- they will smell just like carrots. But I understand the hesitation to do this when considering other potential toxic look-a-likes!"

Thank you for your response. I thought it was Queen Anne's lace, because of where I found it. With so many look a likes, it's good to know what to look for in poisonous, and non poisonous plants. Perhaps a good rule of thumb is if it has purple spots, stay away. Yes, the leaves smell like carrots.
