I came across this split log bench while walking through the Clark Preserve in Westchester County. Even though it looks to have been at the trail intersect for years it was still very sturdy. Whoever made it knew what they were doing. I'm not sure I'd be able to make legs like that. Wondering if there are easy ways to make a bench that has legs?
I don't know about easily making a split log bench with legs. Here is a link to an easy to make bench that works: 5 minute bench
White oak (which I *think* is what that is, hard to tell from the photo) is a great wood choice for woodland benches and a lot of outdoor furniture in general. Even unfinished it lasts a long time, and as it weathers it turns this great, rustic white/gray color that's readily apparent in your photo.
