Did anyone have gypsy moth defoliation this year? It was quite bad in some spots. Saw these heavily chewed chestnut oaks back in late May.

I didn't notice any over our way (I-88 corridor Unadilla Oneonta area). I will see the caterpillars on trees occasionally, as well as the light brown fuzzy egg masses. We don't have as much oak up this way as you do down there so that can make a difference in how much defoliation is visible.

Pennsylvania got hit pretty hard this year. I was traveling down I-81 earlier this summer and there were whole hillsides around Scranton and Hazleton that had been stripped bare.
