For at least ten years, the first spring warbler I've encountered in the Catskill forests has been a yellow-rumped warbler (tied once or twice with the black and white warbler). But earlier today I saw my first ovenbird of the year. It was seeking rain shelter under the same tree I was headed for. Apologies for the blurry/rainy picture!
