Hi Kris, Thanks for sharing this mystery bird song! I shared this audio with a few bird identification experts at Audubon, and we all came to the same conclusion - more than one bird is making this complex vocalization. The first song we hear is a rolling, rhythmic whistle that is most likely from a Carolina Wren (check out songs #2 and 3 here: https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/carolina-wren) or possibly a Northern Cardinal (https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/northern-cardinal).The loud, single-note toots or whistles at the end of the rolling song are likely from a Baltimore Oriole (https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/baltimore-oriole). Hi Suzanne, Thanks to you and your colleagues at Audubon NY for lending your expertise. I really love the Carolina Wren songs (no offense to the cardinals and orioles!). I will share this information with my parents and tell them to be on the lookout for Carolina Wrens, Northern Cardinals, and Baltimore Orioles.
