Timber Stand Improvement
Timber stand improvement (TSI) is to a forest what weeding is to a garden: It allows certain species to be favored. It enhances the growth and quality of timber by removing poor quality trees and making room for good quality tree crowns to grow. To learn more about TSI, check out the blogs below. If your property is located in the NYC Watershed (find out here), it may be eligible for TSI cost-share funding through the WAC Forestry Program’s Management Assistance Program (MAP) for forest landowners. Check out the MAP application for program requirements.
