May is a great month to think about your health. Why? Well for starters, it’s both National Physical Fitness Month and Mental Health Awareness Month. Second, as we head into late spring and march on toward summer, the weather is just getting better and better for venturing outside for some fresh air and exercise.

Here at MyWoodlot, we’re celebrating all this healthy living with a month of new activities designed to help get you out in nature. With activities like day hiking and mountain biking, you’ll work up a sweat and experience the outdoors at the same time. On the gentler end, activities like walking meditations and the 4-minute nature vacation will help reduce your stress and boost your mood whether you’re a jock, couch potato, or anything in between.

As I hope you’ll find over the coming month, nature just might be the cure for what ails you. And don’t just take my word for it. Consider this great YouTube video from Nature Rx with more than 2 million views. The video spoofs those annoying prescription drug commercials to make a laugh-out-loud argument for why you should be spending more time outdoors.

As Nature Rx puts it, “nature can reduce cynicism, meaninglessness, anal-retentiveness, and murderous rage.” If that’s not a reason to get outside, I don’t know what is.
