About MyWoodlot

MyWoodlot began with a small group of landowners, foresters, and educators working at the Watershed Agricultural Council, a grassroots non-profit in upstate New York. From talking with many other landowners, we learned that folks often had questions about what they could or should do with their woodlands. Others knew what they wanted to do, but not how to do it. We wanted to give these landowners easy access to reliable, practical information, and we wanted them to have a way to learn from each other’s experiences. From these desires, MyWoodlot was born.

MyWoodlot is a community of folks who love the outdoors and want to help each other. We provide outdoor activity ideas, advice on landownership, and ways to connect with other landowners through our forums. We’ve gathered some of the best resources on woodlands from both landowners and professionals, and we’ve given them context through projects landowners like you can actually do.

All the resources on MyWoodlot are available for free. We’re able to provide this information thanks to the generous support of our funders, the US Forest Service and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and from partnerships with Cornell Coopertative Extension of Columbia and Green Counties, SUNY School of Environmental Science and Forestry,  and The Nature Conservancy

We hope you’ll use the information on MyWoodlot to find new ways to connect with your land and solve challenges you may be facing on it.

MyWoodlot is a project of the Watershed Agricultural Council’s Forestry Program, based in Delaware County, New York. There are eight team members involved in the project.
